Our Registered Nurse and Investigator

Cheryl Giardini, R.N., L.N.C.C

Cheryl was born and raised in the Olean, NY area. She graduated in 1985 from Jamestown Community College, Cattaraugus County Campus with an Associate in Applied Science degree in Nursing and has additional nursing education credits through Daemen College.  She was licensed as New York State Registered Nurse in 1985 and licensed to practice in Pennsylvania in 1995.  Cheryl became a member of The American Academy of Legal Nurse Consultants in 1989. She obtained certification as a legal nurse consultant in 2002 by The American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board by written examination and with practice qualifications.

Cheryl has been working with the firm as a legal nurse consultant for almost twenty five years.  During that time she has gained extensive knowledge in numerous medical and legal areas through independent research, continuing education, and experience.

Cheryl's clinical nursing experience includes hospital staff nursing, maternity, labor and delivery, and newborn nursing, as well as hemodialysis, and insurance screening examination. She has also worked as a Social Services liaison and prenatal educator for pregnant women as a coordinator with the New York State Prenatal Care Assistance Program.

James N. Connelly, Investigator

Mr. Connelly was born and raised in the Olean, NY and graduated from Olean High School in 1970 with a regent's diploma.  Mr. Connelly was appointed to the City of Olean Police Department in September of 1971. Mr. Connelly graduated from the Chautauqua County Sheriffs Academy in 1972, receiving his basic training from the Municipal Police Training Council, Executive Department of the State of New York. In 1973 he received his intermediate training from the division of Criminal Justices Services of the State of New York and received his police Supervision certificate from Municipal Police Training Council in 1985.

Mr. Connelly is certified by the State of New York, Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Municipal Police Training Council as a Police Instructor. He attended and received additional police training in all aspects of law enforcement from the: Federal Bureau of Investigation, Office of Homeland Security, New York State Police, Erie Central Police Services, New York State Fire Office of Fire Prevention and Control and the Ohio Fire Academy. Additional education includes Jamestown Community College, Erie Community College and Medaille College.

Jim was a patrolman with the City of Olean Police Department from 1971 until being promoted to Sergeant in 1986. He served as both a Patrol Sergeant and was also assigned to the Criminal Investigation Unit as a Sergeant Investigator. In 1990 he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to supervise the Criminal Investigation Unit. In 1993 Jim was promoted to Captain and the Officer in Charge of the Criminal Unit until December of 2006.

Jim has been with the firm as their full time Investigator since January of 2007.
